The Mini-Course Committee is a volunteer student committee of the Twin Cities Student Unions Programs and Activities board that strives to enrich campus recreation by promoting engagement in a wide variety of subject areas. Committee members organize a variety of skill-based courses, taught by instructors from the University and local community, which encompass, but are not limited to, all facets of the arts and crafts.
Cancellation Policy: One must cancel 10 business days before the first day of the Mini-Course.

- Advanced Drawing

- For those of you who already posses confidence in your drawing skills and wish to develop further, this 3 day mini course is perfect. You will explore drawing as narrative through personal story telling through drawing. Through the use of photographs and real life objects you will create visual narratives.

You will come away with a better appreciation for what it takes to make that perfect cup of Joe.

- In this 3-session beginning crochet basics class, we will cover: how to hold the yarn and hook , a few hook techniques and turning your work. Additionally, we’ll learn: the slip knot and slip stitch, the foundation chain, single crochet and double crochet stitches and the picot pattern, along with a short introduction to pattern reading. Our starting project is Spa Bath Cloth.

Cathleen Childs is a professional designer and has been crocheting since childhood. She has held workshops and has taught knitting in school district 622 and 623. Cathleen also instructs knitting at Michaels craft stores along with other individual city yarn and fiber venues
Catherine Liska is a professional belly dancer as well as an active performer and instructor in the Twin-Cities area.
Zacc Harris has been teaching all levels and ages of students for more than 7 years as a private instructor. He currently teaches at The American Guitar Boutique on Snelling Ave in St. Paul. He holds a Scholar of Arts degree in Music from Southern Illinois University.
Patricia Schuckert earned her masters in pastoral studies from Loyola University in 1978 and has B.A. degress in dance and dance therapy and biology. Pat has had extensive training in various approaches to bodywork and several approaches to energy work. Her teaching experience has been varied, from College of St. Catherine's holistic therapies program to Cook County jail in Chicago. Patricia maintains a private practice in both bodywork and spiritual direction in Minneapolis.
Bruce Abas is part owner of Four Seasons Dance Studio in Minneapolis and has over twenty years of dance teaching experience.
Nancy Antenucci has been a teacher, mentor and reader in the Twin Cities for over a decade. She has developed a thriving practice providing intuitive strategies for clients of various walks of life.
Josh Dexter is the owner of the Dunn Bros Coffee shop in Loring Park as well as the Lyndale Ave location. He has been a coffee Roastmaster for the past 2 years and roasts at least 3 to 4 times a week. He enjoys all the different varieties of coffee we have at Dunn Bros and wants to share that knowledge and love of coffee will all. He also has been a Scuba instructor for Smith Diving in Fridley for the past ten years.
Caroline Kent has an MFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of Minnesota. She brings a dynamic and engaging teaching style to those interested in learning more about drawing and its role within contemporary art.
Andrew Worm has over 14 years of dance experience. He was classically trained in Tap, Jazz, and Ballet during his high school years at WS Dance Studio. His Hip-Hop training includes Essence of Prodigy, Zenon, and Larking Dance Studio. He is a major advocate for Freestyle dancing to enhance his choreography and level self expression. As a college student at the University of Minnesota, he was discovered by a member of the Aerobics Program and created the now famous Non-Stop Hip-Hop dance aerobics phenomenon. Outside of the Health and Fitness industry, he enjoys choreographing for many high school and collegiate level dance teams around the Midwest. Mr. Worm has performed all over the state, including the Mall of America, Minnesota State Fair, and University of Minnesota college campus. His love, the Health and Fitness industry, also extends into the Self-Improvement field. He plans to blend the Health and Fitness, Self-Improvement, and Hip-Hop Dance arenas into a new era of Physical Fitness! He can always be heard saying, "Why else would you be on this Earth, other than to look, feel, do, and be your best?!?"
Leslie Johnson is a Certified Svaroopa® Yoga Teacher (CSYT). She holds the honor of Senior Teacher with over 1000 hours of training through Master Yoga Teacher Institute. She has practiced yoga since 1989. She first found and became a student of Svaroopa yoga in 1998, and has been teaching since 2002. She received training from Rama Berch, the founding president of Yoga Alliance. Rama Berch is the originator and master teacher of Svaroopa yoga and founder of Master Yoga Foundation.
Professor Andrew Whitman, Ph.D., practices and teaches personal financial
planning. He is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), an attorney, a risk
management consultant, and teaches the Carlson School’s personal financial
management course, INS 4201
Doriana Ruffino, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Finance at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Boston University and has served at Harvard Business School and Boston University’s School of Management. Her research focuses on financial engineering, risk management, consumption-portfolio-labor choices, and the connection between asset prices and the macro-economy.
